The Approach

to Snow Lake

On the wooded path between the parking lot and the pier, we found the beginning blooms of wildflowers and a Red-breasted Grosebeak (extra).  From the pier I spotted an Eastern Kingbird, also in the extra.

We saw three humans, and no otters or beavers.  We saw one great blue heron and two sandhill cranes across the lake.  The silence at this lake, save for the sounds of nature, is absolutely sublime.  It's great that few people know about it and visit it.

Thanks for all your kind gifts on the Baltimore Oriole!
