No leaves or buds

If I were asked to describe at least one difference between a monarchy and a republic, I could answer that there are leaves in the trees in May in a monarchy. We all could see that during the King Charles III's coronation week photographs and videos.
And we can see that in a small town on the west coast of the Republic of Finland there are no leaves of buds on the 8th of May in 2023. (The trees are a birch and a rowan tree.)
That is the sad truth. :-))
