X means they will be felled.

To day we went to visit a friend we had not seen for a while. They have a house in a quite isolated Surrey village south of Dorking, which has a small  wood of a few acres attached to it . We walked round the wood so that our friend could show us the impending devastation as many of the trees have to be felled by the electricity board because they are encroaching on the electricity wires. All the trees to be felled have an orange cross. In total I think it will be around 100. She also has quite a few ash trees which have been affected by ‘die-back’ and has managed to get the company to agree to fell and take away some of those too at no cost to her.
It is a big job so all the electric wires will have to come down while the trees are felled and they will put in temporary generators to supply the village

There will still be lots of trees and as there is no public access I’m sure it will be fine eventually but a big hassle and mess while it is going on.
There were still lots of bluebells there too, lots of wild garlic  and signs of deer with their footprints in the mud. We have never seen it so muddy and as we left there was a big storm too.
