Hunter Valley

The current stopover on our long drive home is the Hunter Valley, which is the oldest wine producing region in the country. We visited two family-owned wineries, each of which is still owned by the families that started them more than 160 years ago. My photo is of Tyrrell’s winery, which I first visited nearly 50 years ago. It produces some of Australia’s most award-winning wine. Its cellar door is delightfully rustic and unpretentious.
