Ribwort plantain

An overlooked and rather forgotten wild edible herb that is everywhere  at the moment. It provides food for butterflies, hoverflies, finches and other birds. It can be used as an antihistamine and is good for insect bites and nettle stings. The leaves can be made into a tea for coughs. It is also antifungal, antioxidant and analgesic. Its roots, apparently, are a good antidote to rattlesnake bites! This one is simply for wildflower week.
