When the album Time Out Of Mind came out in 1997 it was Dylan's first album of original material in seven years. It was also almost his last as shortly after finishing the record he contracted near-fatal histoplasmosis. "I really thought I'd be seeing Elvis soon", he said when discharged from hospital. The dark subject matter of some of the songs seemed to foreshadow his illness. Dylan wasn't happy with the deliberately murky soundscape created by producer Daniel Lanois for the album and subsequently produced all his future albums himself.

In 2023 the latest release in his Bootleg series was Fragments: Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996–1997) , featuring a newly remastered version of the studio album that removed many of the layers built into the original production so that it more closely resembled what Bob Dylan heard in the room at the time he recorded his vocals, and added a further 4 CDs of demos and outtakes from the sessions. Unfortunately it came with a thick hardback book and cost over £100 but lacked any DVD or Blu-ray disc with a surround sound mix, so I let it pass. Now this limited edition single Blu-ray disc that I pre-ordered months ago that has the missing Dolby Atmos/5.1 mix has finally arrived in the post, on its day of release.

Having posted flora images most days of the week, come Flower Friday and I'm not, so another picture of decaying tulip petals that I can't resist from the Woodland Garden is in Extras.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Bob Dylan - Make You Feel My Love (2022 Remix) (recorded January 1997, Miami FL)
Sometimes Dylan will step out of character and write something horribly cheesy such as Forever Young or Make You Feel My Love (from Time Out Of Mind)  that will appeal to a wholly different audience. Adele made her version of this song so globally massive that I had even forgotten that it was a Dylan song to begin with. I know Bob Dylan fans and I know Adele fans, but I don't know anyone who loves both.
Other examples of covers being far better known than Dylan's original include This Wheel's On Fire, Mr Tambourine Man and All Along The Watchtower.
