Top floor view

S arranged for our visitors, and her brother and us to have brunch at Deco, a cafe/restaurant in the ground floor of Lopdell House in Titirangi. An excellent plate of creamed mushrooms for me. Afterwards we went to the adjacent (and connected)Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery.

There are three floors of two galleries each. There is an exhibition in each gallery, which we went through. One was the work of a young Pasifika artist. In the notes it was written that he identifies as a BROWN artist in a BROWN street, in a BROWN suburb. His area (including his home) was flooded badly in the 'weather event' at the end of January. The actions of the local and not so local community to support everyone made a deep impression on him. The work on display demonstrates the intensity of his emotions.

When we reached the top floor, S decided to face her anxiety about edges, so as to take a photo of the Manukau Harbour. She provided me with my blip for today
