If you can't beat them...

Bluebells ( Hyacinthoides non-scripta )

Another "walk to the bins" blip.  After a three week gap while we carried out maintenance guests had been in the Lodge with more coming today.  So I had to take my usual stroll to the bins.  On the way I passed this clump of Bluebells.  Going by the curve of the stem allowing the heads to droop they are English Bluebells not the garden centre Spanish Bluebells which hybridise with the English ones.

Just to make life difficult as the tourist season gets underway they have chosen to close the road from Penrith to the Lodge for two weekends.  So being local we knew a short diversion rather than the very long one signposted.  What we hadn't allowed for was the event taking place along the route.  Cars parked along the road leaving only a single track.  What amazes me is that drivers can see a car in the road coming towards them and yet continue to enter the restricted space.  Whether they think the car coming towards them is a mirage or will just vanish letting them through I can't imagine.  Strangely neither of those things happened.
