It's been a long day

And windy and chilly ...

Today we took ourselves off to Sherborne Castle Country Fair held in the grounds of Sherborne Castle, once leased to Sir Walter Raleigh in 1592. Every year for the past two decades or so a fair has been held to raise money for West Country charities. There is everything there you can imagine including the Morris Dancers!

N bought another walking stick made of cherry wood made by a man from Chard. We enjoyed the Dog and Duck display, heavy horses, sheep, pigs, miniature cattle, craft stalls, plant stalls, food stalls, bands, steam engines, falconry, and so it goes on and on..... until we too felt like the girl in the photograph and decided to go home for a cuppa!

Behind the cow and calf can be seen a heavy horse through the barrier and beyond that the many chimneys of the castle. (Better LARGE)
