Sgwarnog: In the Field

Gap

15yo and I did the river and canal loop from Roberts Park down to Dowley Gap and back. This buttercup meadow was our reward at the far end. We saw one brood of 10 Mallard ducklings along the canal and noted Orange-tip and Holly Blue butterflies in passing. Back in Roberts Park we had an outdoors café stop, accompanied by the summer sounds of a brass band on the bandstand and a cricket match on the pitch below.

Later, the small matter of a League Two play-off semi-final, first leg down at Valley Parade. In a good atmosphere Bradford City secured a 1-0 win against Carlisle United - a small advantage to take to the return leg next weekend.  A Wembley final in two weeks awaits the winners.
