Olympia, Greece

This morning we docked at the port of Katakolon on the Peloponnese peninsula, facing the Ionian Sea.  We spent the day exploring nearby Olympia, the spiritual home of the Olympic Games, which is now an archaeological site of immense ruins, absolutely fascinating to see.

We also visited the excellent museum there, with many beautiful objects on display.  The extra shows one statue that gave me the giggles -- he looks exactly as if he is having a conversation on his cell phone!  The other extra shows a 1,000 year-old olive tree at an olive farm and olive oil factory where we stopped for lunch.
