Not Albania

We were supposed to visit the ancient city of Butrint in Albania today, but instead we ended up staying aboard the ship, trying to find out exactly what the devil happened yesterday back in Boston with our Mabel.

Long story short, a couple of days ago she started having some unpleasant tummy troubles which steadily escalated into scary territory.  Our dog sitter took her to the vet yesterday, and it became clear she was in  bad shape -- she's lost quite a bit of weight, and was dehydrated and weak -- so much so that she ended up spending the night at the veterinary hospital (Ka-ching!!!!!!!). 

What with the significant time difference between Boston and Butrint, we have spent a miserable morning waiting until a decent hour in the US to get in touch with the dog sitter by phone/WhatsApp to find out what the scoop is.  Finally at (our) lunch time we managed to speak to Caroline and the news is much better -- Mabel spent a good night, ate this morning, and is now rehydrated thanks to an IV.  She will be discharged later today, and she'll go back to Caroline's with a special diet.  This is a picture taken at the vet's this morning as Mabel was receiving some TLC from one of the vet techs.

Fingers crossed the drama is over now!
