Desperately seeking

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

Life Before blip.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells,
And cockle shells
And pretty maids
All in a row!

On Spring Bank Holiday Monday our village has a sports day, the Village Queen and attendants on a float and a fancy dress competition.

How I loved these days! It was always a rush on the Saturday to make sure I had all that was needed from the shops for my girls' costumes. Then Sunday evening and Monday morning was spent frantically making them and dressing the girls.

In 1988 Rachel (6) was Mary and Kathryn (4)was her garden. The judge was one of our doctors, a bit miffed at giving first prize to them, daughters of his locum radiographer.

Fair's fair, they did look good!
