Windmill ' 't Hoog- en Groenland', Baambrugge

'Baambrugge' = 'Bam-bru-ghuh'
'Hoog' = 'howg' and means 'high'
'Groen' = 'ghroon' and means 'green'
Altogether = 'The High and Green Land'
It's located in the middle of the wetlands and (still) has obvious links to land reclamation efforts.  Constructed as far back as 1680, it's not difficult to see the importance of its role.

One thing about this mill -- anyone wishing to shoot it would find himself thankful if it was facing the way you see it in the shot.  There is just no way to approach it and get a good angle otherwise, certainly not from behind it.  It is standing on private property, the polder behind it is completely off limits to unauthorized folks, and even when the drawbridge is down, one is never sure if it would be okay to just walk on it to get closer to the mill.  The presumed owners live a little further to the left of the shot, and they also keep the drawbridge up when they are at home, for privacy reasons.  In short, if you've no business hanging around too close to the property, you can keep your distance.  The mailbox is standing before the bridge, so this side of the water, so the post is not a good excuse either.  But never mind, I was very lucky as the mill isn't always facing this way.  There is no parking area anywhere close by, but a short walk on the dike is sufficient.  The dike is nothing more than a narrow footpath, and if you were on a bicycle, you'd have had to dismount to accommodate oncoming 'traffic'.

Indeed... went to work, worked, went back home, went on the hunt.  I had already done sufficient work in the weekend.  Once back home, I spent the rest of the time doing nothing much -- some colouring, some watching (so glad Humphrey and Martha reconciled the way they did, and it was a repeat of yesterday evening, but AW was able to view it this time), some gaming, no kitchen duties, and a very, very early bed.  Thankful for very, very good weather, and a day well spent.
