Shopping Bags

Drove back home to Cumbria today, but not without a diversion to the temple of Mammon that is Meadowhall Shopping Centre near Sheffield. Not the most obvious route from Milton Keynes to Kendal, but there was method in our madness. Firstly, we could go straight up the M1, thus avoiding all the traffic around Birmingham. More importantly though is the fact that Mrs C would be able to visit the Joe Browns shop. They are predominately an online retailer, but they do have one physical shop and it happens to be at Meadowhall. Efficient though the online operation is, it’s nice to be able to actually handle the items and try them on before purchasing.
While she was trying things on I had a quick browse. I didn’t intend to actually buy anything but somehow walked out with a new suede jacket, a waistcoat and a t-shirt. Not to mention a considerably lighter wallet.
Mrs C found several things as well, so we both have new items to fit into our already crowded wardrobes. The charity shop may be getting a donation soon!
We headed home over the Woodhead Pass and then around Manchester. After a week of reasonably trouble free motoring while we were away, it all came to a grinding halt on the M60 around Manchester. As there were no apparent roadworks or accidents, I can only assume it was down to sheer volume of traffic. I feel sorry for anyone who had to endure that misery as part of their daily commute.
Anyway, back at home now and the rare luxury of a night in. We will have to be up reasonably early in the morning though as there is no food in the house so a trip to the supermarket will be required before lunch. Not that the holiday is over yet. We may now be back at home but we are out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. I’m going to need next week off just to recover from this week!
