A Day Worth Recording

And Back Again

Byron's Pool, Grantchester.

backblip

Those following this weekends travels will remember we were in Oxford last night.  The plan had been to return from there to Cambridge, but a combination of having M with us, who would have taken an age to travel back by train; especially having lumbered him with a quilt and pillow, and having discovered just how good a road the M40 is, we decided to travel back via Coventry.

Despite going the wrong way ( i.e. west rather than east) it only added 40 minutes to the driving time - which mainly goes to show how rubbish / overly-speed-restrictive the direct route roads are.

We needed a recovery leg-stretch when we got back so E and I walked to Grantchester and Byron's pool nature reserve.

The peace and birdsong was briefly interrupted by a fly-past by the Red Arrows.  Must be a Duxford Weekend...

I don't normally bother with RAW photos but in this case the light was a bit borderline.  This is one of the few occasions I've fiddled with the RAW settings and been happy that the result is noticeably better than the original JPEG it came with.
