A Day Worth Recording

Dellivision

Our house was originally called "The Dell".  Over the last 50 years or so bit's of land have been sold off, eventually leading to the fragmentation of the garden.

Thus, we are now Dell House, next-door-but-one, the former gardener's cottage, is Dell Cottage, and the next property down the hill is where the wooded hollow that gave the property it's name is.

Despite a few invitations from M over the years we've been here we'd never actually made it down to have a look at the dell  but we managed to do so today.

M (who is a geologist) is of the opinion that this was quite likely a clay pit before being sold to the builder of The Dell back in 1836, and was just incorporated into the garden as a feature.
