I came across this flower for the first time in the wild.  It was growing beside the coastal path between Kirkcaldy and Kinghorn.

Its common name is 'Star-of-Bethlehem' but that name is given to quite a number of different species.  I believe this is Ornithogalum umbellatum ssp. campestre.  A different sub-species (ssp. umbellatum) is grown in gardens as the 'Garden Star-of-Bethlehem'.

I am posting this as today's blip as I think it will have more general interest than the remarkable (to me) cloud formation this evening.  I may add that later That has now been added as an 'extra'.
