Pyrenean alpine

In 2009 we went with friends for a holiday in the French Pyrenees.
One of the wonderful places we visited was the Cirque de Gavarnie,
a huge natural bowl high in the mountains.

It was very good for alpine flora and one of the little gems we found was Ramonda myconi. It gave us so much pleasure that we decided to try to grow it back in Arnside.

Here it is 14 years later still enjoying rocky crevices at the side of a path.

Such good memories.
