Bridge Over Troubled Water

We left Auckland under a dark grey sky with heavy showers.  The motorway was flowing fairly well and then we went onto the Waikato Expressway and it by passes the small towns we used to drive through.  It wasn't until we were passed Cambridge that the landscape looked familiar again.  This blip is from Hawkes Bay where we saw evidence of the recent floods.  We had intended to cross the Tutaekuri River here but the bridge has been washed away.  The river washed several bridges away.  We could back track and go another route.  Once upon a time before children we lived in this area and the forester worked in a forest of course and I taught at a two teacher country school.  Tonight we are in Dannevirke staying with our Best Man.
