Rain Blossom

We had our first significant rain of the post holiday season today, complete with brief power outage. Thunder built all afternoon and by the time the sun went down, there was lightning on the eastern horizon. It didn't rain until we had retired for the night, in our bedroom that we had pre-airconditioned in case our power was interrupted. It was, for a couple of minutes, before we turned the lights off, but quickly came back on (very unusual for the first storm of the season). The night we passed in air conditioned bliss, but the remnants of the night rains were all around the complex this morning, plant debris, wet sidewalks, and raindrops the hibiscus blossoms in front of our patio. Any excuse to shoot something a little different of these my favorite subjects. I even tried to upload a large version so my friend Al can zoom in close to really experience the raindrop refractions.

P.S. - Of course, the rain didn't last, still much too early, so we are back to hot and humid. We couldn't live this time of year without our overhead fans!
