Cote de North Downs

More and more vineyards have sprung up along the base of south facing scarp slope of the North Downs. In the distance, is the white chalk soils planted with vines only this year. We had just come through another field that until last year was grazing. Above the white soils are the North Downs proper a site of lovely Downland flowers. Nice to see lots starlings flitting through the more mature vines in the foreground.

Another busy day. After a HITT, a walk to Detling for coffee then along through the vineyards and St Mary’s Church back home. Beautiful skies, sunny and gentle winds made it a delight to be out.

I went to the allotment in the late afternoon to dismantle and rebuild the raspberry supports in a new location. We had a committee site meeting afterwards to view plots, vacant plots, perimeter and sheds ready for a meeting with the Parish Council in June.

Finally, this evening we had a practice together on guitar and uke.
