Susan was delighted to find that her alliums had not finished while we were away. Grass needs attention, not all seeds have germinated.

Completed the 275 miles from Scotch Corner to home in 6 hours which was better going that I expected. Last night when I checked the journey time it was 5 hours.

Plenty of delays due to roadworks, sheer volume of traffic and accidents and the fact it’s the start of the spring bank holiday week. It could have been much worse.

All OK at home, much warmer and more humid. One lot of washing done, all unpacked and put away, been for a walk and collected some groceries enroute.

The Orkneys get under your skin. We look back on our visit with great fondness and love for the places we visited and the people we met. Hopefully, we’ll return, perhaps in 2026 as we’re planning to go further north to Shetland in 2025
