Parenting

The blue tits are hard at work feeding their chicks. A pair started in one nest box, but abandoned that and after a gap of weeks another nest box which had never been used before was occupied. The parents are looking incredibly scruffy at the moment, this parenting business is taking it out of them. Food of choice is green caterpillars, there’s a plentiful supply, so this mini-beast morsel is atypical.

Extra for Friday - a bee (species uncertain) on the climbing hydrangea. The bee was operating like a child in a sweet shop, these little flowers must be full of nectar and pollen.
