The Broom of the Cowden Knowes

Broom, not gorse. When I was a student in Edinburgh in nineteen seventy something or other, I went to two or three concerts by the Scottish ‘folk’ group, Silly Wizard. When they performed this song, they always invited us to sing the chorus with them. It’s one of the most gorgeous choruses I know and I have sung it many times. If you keep this running there is a wonderful outburst of Silly Wizard humour.
