If you can't beat them...

Food Pass

After a number of hectic days in London and yesterday's drive back, we treated ourselves to a lie-in.  Then we spent the morning quietly enjoying the sun and views from the campsite.  After lunch we needed some shopping so visited the canal side farm shop in Great Haywood.  Then a wander round the garden centre at Wolesley.  The centre is right beside Staffordshire Wildlife Trust's HQ and reserve so naturally that was our next stop.

We headed straight down to the spot opposite the Kingfisher nest site on the River Trent.  The photographer who was already there told us there was a lot of activity and where to look. Soon a Kingfisher arrived.  From then on we never had long to wait before one or other of the pair were in view.  At one point both were in a bush near the nest hole.  The male had a fish, soon they were together on the branch.  Having both birds in one shot was exciting but a food pass (part of courtship/pair bonding) followed.  I managed to get this shot.
