Circle

The Sighthill Stone Circle is a sculpture created in Glasgow in the late 1970's. As part of a major renovation of the area the stones were later removed, put into storage and then fairly recently returned and the sculpture recreated about 200 metres from their original location.

I must admit to not having heard of it until recently, and it was only when I started thinking about paying a visit to the new Sighthill Bridge over the M8 motorway that I saw a reference to the stone circle. A wee drive into Glasgow this afternoon, a walk up to the stone circle and then over and back across the bridge. There is much landscaping going on in the area and this looks as if it will continue for some time to come.

Much as I like standing stones and stone circles this one is only about forty years old.
