Tandem Round Britain

This is Xani, elder brother of Alice Byrne who died by suicide on New Year's Day 2022. Xani set off today on a custom built tandem to ride around the coast of Great Britain. The ride is 3500 miles long and will take 88 days. Each day Xani will be joined by a different person who has lost someone to suicide or struggles with these thoughts themselves. Today he and  his mum were waved off by friends and neighbours, including a few people who will take a turn on the bike later in the ride. Today mother and son will ride to Eyemouth and then Xani will go on from there with a different riding partner every day. If all goes to plan he will be back in Portobello on the August 23rd. 
He is trying to raise money for two suicide specific charities Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) and Papyrus. He has raised nearly 8k so far.
 
Football later was rather warm with just six-a-side. Scored what currently appears to be my customary brace. We managed to get in front early on and although the other team got some goals back we managed to keep just ahead and won by a couple in the end. Fair to say, goalkeeping wasn't the best, on both sides :-) Pleased with my involvement in several good passing moves that led to goals, and seemed more comfortable on the ball than I have for a while. Probably because there was more space and therefore a bit more time.
