Ageing elegantly

I have had these tulips for a few weeks and, although they are now finished, I am loathe to get rid of them as I think they have still got a certain elegance and beauty. 

We both listened to some excellent talks today, including Timothy Garton Ash about Europe, its history, its present and its future - a lot to think about.
