Amphora

Amphorae come in a bewildering arrary of sizes, shapes and decorative styles. Some are plain and practical, whilst others are prized and highly decorative works of art. This humble example was probably intended as a garden ornament. Over the years it has become weathered and worn. I noticed this morning how the shadow from a spiky grass fell on the amphora creating a transient pattern on it's surface.
