Mammoth Terraces

Lie in this morning as we didn’t need go get up to early and left the room at 8am. Headed over to get some coffee and sandwiches before heading to Mammoth to look at the springs and calcium terraces there. Some of the boardwalks were shut for maintenance but we managed to get around all of it. Some bits were uninspiring, but the main terraces were fantastic to see. Also took a photo of Liberty cap as you have to while you are here. Went into the Albright Museum, which was about how the ranger service came about and how the army build Mammoth originally to help prevent poachers and ranches moving into the park. Found the great ear owl in the tree by the side of the visitors centre and its 3 chicks to take some photos. Lunch by the visitors centre and a walk around the buildings before we left. Quick stop in Gardiner to have a look in the Yellowstone museum shop and then the dive to Bozeman. Long straight roads but great scenery along the way. Checked into the hotel OK and had a bit of a rest. Headed to the Montana ale works for a great dinner and a few more new beers. Quiet night in sorting the bags for the next flight to hopefully get under the weight limit and catching up on blips now I finally have a good Wi-Fi connection.
