A very big thank you for your response to yesterday’s two beauties. Both bid farewell and fluttered off into the sunshine today. Another two chrysalis are in the process of turning black, the other remaining ones are still in various stages of green.

To distinguish between the male and female monarch butterflies the male has two distinctive black spots on its wing -  see this photo which shows the dots very clearly.
