Up at a stupidly early hour, slight panic when our pre-booked Uber cancelled but another one arrived just as we were about to run to the bus stop.

We were in Edinburgh by 8.30 and on a tram into the city for breakfast. So glad I booked us a table because it was really busy and for a good reason, absolutely delicious.

Afterwards we considered tackling Arthur’s Seat but we were too full and tired really, so just had a nice walk to see some sights, and a wander around the National Gallery. We spent the afternoon in the castle before going to check in at our hotel. There was an accidental nap when we arrived, but we were both in a much fitter state for dinner afterwards.

The place we’d seen earlier ended up being full (and way too loud to have had a conversation) so we ended up going to the restaurant next door. Great shout, the food was delicious and it was really nice in there.

Stayed for a drink then had a wander back through the city (with a stop in Tesco for some room snacks).

Took lots of film snaps so they’ll probably appear on extras at some point.
