Shipston-on-Stour

This is a very late posting.

Apologies, I am still way behind responding to fellow Blippers’ lovely comments and dipping into blippers’ journals.  I’ll catch up as and when I can.

We had a delicious light breakfast then set off for Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre to go for a walk and admire the trees and plants.  It’s a lovely place with wonderful trees to admire, St Mary’s Church and Batsford House on the perimeter, a falconry centre, an archery area and a café. We enjoyed the walk and admired the trees, including a handkerchief tree, which I’d never heard of. It’s one of the first specimens planted in Britain and also one of the largest specimens.  We enjoyed a light lunch in the café before returning home to Shipston-on-Stour, where we relaxed for an hour or so before going out for supper at The Bower House, after having a drink at the pub next door, where MrMacD was able to enjoy a pint.  Our lovely, generous hosts treated us to a delicious meal and a very nice bottle of wine. So very kind.  We returned home and retired to bed after a most enjoyable day.

The blip shows various scenes from Batsford Arboretum, and a lovely old pump in the garden.
