Life through the lens...

56th Anniversary

56 ! Where have those years gone!
We have had a great day celebrating at one of our old haunts.
Back in the early 1980s we started going to Salvo’s. A little Italian Restaurant in Headingley Leeds.
Every Friday night we would queue outside, whatever the weather, to wait for a table.
Happy days.

Since then it has grown, taking over the two adjacent shops. We have been many times with our children and grandchildren who have continued going there.
A couple of days ago we got a text from our granddaughter, Hannah, to say ‘ The owners of Salvo’s are retiring. What a shame’.

So that made us decide to go today.
It was lovely to see Gip there and reminisce over old times.
He very kindly gave me a book about The Salvo’s story.
Salvo’s Restaurant started in 1976 although Gip and John’s parents first came to England in the 1950s.

After an enjoyable meal which started with Bellinis and Bruchetta, then Pizza Internazionale for MrC and Fritto misto for me with two glasses of negroamaro wine, we caught the bus back home.
To top it all the sun has shone all day.

Extra is a photo of my 70th Birthday which we celebrated with all the family at Salvo’s.
