This is a a replica of the Cuddesdon Bowl, an Anglo-Saxon 6th century AD bowl.  The original is actually in the museum but I didn't have time to go and look at it.

Great fun at a Creative Writing workshop at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford today - but the train strike made it more difficult to get there!  The first bus was at 6.23am and I got home just after 7pm, and had to leave early to do that otherwise it would have been after 9pm!!

It was a group of about 12 of us (10 female, 2 male) and the leader – Louise Larchbourne, a voice actor, poet and writer.   She was good fun to be with and we learnt a lot in the time.

First of all we introduced ourselves to each other, whilst numbering the poems she had printed out for us, from various poets, and various eras.  The numbering was very odd – for example 17 was on the back of 2!

Following this, Louise had us doing some vocal exercises, aaaaaaaahhhhhh, eeeeeeeee, oooooooooh.  We did have a laugh, it was difficult to do them without laughing at each other’s expressions
