Teddington

This is a late posting.

We walked from Teddington to Richmond today via Teddington Lock and Richmond Park.  It’s a walk we’ve done many times and it was good to do it again. The morning started off cloudy and cold but the afternoon was warm and sunny, except for the pesky cold wind at times.  We had lunch at a café at the side of the Thames, then had a short wander around Richmond itself.  We visited the pub where MrMacD used to regularly have a pint of London Pride.  He couldn’t resist having one this afternoon, so I sat and had a G&T with him and we got talking to a couple of chaps who, it turned out had lived in Auckland for a few years.  Apparently the pub, The Princes Head, features in the TV series Ted Lasso.  We talked briefly to an American couple in the pub who had come there specifically to have a pint in the “Ted Lasso pub”.  In the meantime, our friends had gone to check out the programme at the Richmond Theatre.  When they returned we walked back along the river, on the opposite side from this morning, past Marble Hill House and Orleans Gardens.  There were people on stand up paddle boards on the river, which was nice to see.  We walked along Church Lane in Twickenham and stopped at an Italian restaurant there to book a table for Sunday evening.  Then we caught a bus home.  A short while later we walked to a Turkish Restaurant called Bade on Teddington High Street.  We had a delicious meal there with lovely wine - a very nice end to an enjoyable day.

The blip shows various scenes from the day.
