Happy Birthday Roger!

Sunday
Roger’s big birthday didn’t exactly turn out as planned, but we made the most of it! We were supposed to have been celebrating up in Wisconsin with our youngest daughter Laura, but because of Roger’s eye issues we had to cancel that. Laura had offered to come down to us, but since it’s such a long drive for her, and Roger wouldn’t have been able to do much anyway, we suggested she left it for another time. The weather chose not to cooperate either - after at least two weeks with no rain, and beautiful weather, it chose today to rain! Now I admit we badly needed the rain, but did it have to come today! Then there was the matter of birthday cards! Rogers sister Janet had sent theirs and his Dad’s to Laura’s address in Wisconsin, thinking we would be there! Another card, sent via Moonpig, arrived addressed to Roger, but the card inside was not for him! However, we enjoyed each other’s company, I bought him some balloons, made him a Black Forest cake, which turned out rather well, though the dimensions weren’t quite right as I didn’t have the right sized pans, so it turned out a bit on the tall side! However it tasted delicious and was really moist. He received a couple of phone calls, and then in the evening we went out for a wonderful Italian dinner at Sotto’s downtown, partially paid for by Laura, who had bought us a voucher as a Christmas present, but we hadn’t used it yet as it is a very popular place, and it’s difficult to get reservations.
I wasn’t looking forward to the drive down, as it was raining hard, and Roger usually drives when we go downtown, but I managed, and fortunately the rain began to ease as we drove south.
We are now back home, and I think we’ll both soon be ready for bed!
Thanks for stopping by, and have a good week fellow Blippers!
