Cape Le Grand and Stonehenge

On the way to see the arguably best beach in Australia we passed a sign to Stonehenge. Honestly you never know what you are going to find on a holiday. It is a replica of the original as it would have looked 4000 years ago. A businessman decided to create this at Margaret River but after sourcing the granite and having it cut to size he realised the transport costs would be too much. The stones lay where they were cut until a farmer / engineer decided to continue the project on his property across the road. It was very impressive. I have been to the real one and this was as awesome, just newer. It is lined up for the solstice for this part of the world and works accurately as a calendar. Can’t you see the lovely day it was.

Not for long….by the time we drove out to Cape Le Grand National Park it was raining. The water was a gorgeous colour and sand white. I walked down from the car park with an umbrella to get some photos but was scared of getting the camera too wet. In the extras you can also see a large outcrop of granite called Frenchman’s Peak. There are two walkers (climbers) hurrying down as they would have seen the rain coming. There are lots of walking trails and little beaches so if that’s your thing come and visit.
