Yew, and Non-Yew

Steve-the-Carver is back.  

On the left is the thank you from Steve for a pile of our wood he took away several weeks ago.  This is from one of our yew logs that resulted from the tree-fail earlier this year.

However, the main reason he's here is that the dead Portuguese Laurel is about to be carved.  As of this morning we had no firm plans of what to carve it into.  Probably something abstract? 

The trunk is really not in great condition - previous age old hacks have left huge holes around the back which have rotted into the trunk, so whatever it is going to be it'll be a bit of a challenge.
