A day in the life

House of power

I left Jutland by ferry this morning, to sail to Sjaelland, the island where the capital Copenhagen is. We even had a little rain, the first in 23 days.
My only stop before landing at my next cousins place was the Cathedral in Roskilde, a city of huge religious importance from 900 until today, when the importance is more of a symbolic one. During the 15 to 17-hundreds, when Denmark and Sweden were at constant war with each other, Roskilde was also a very important centre of power for the various kings during the period. The cathedral is the resting place of all Danish kings and queens from Margrete I in 1413 until today. The bricks we see today was laid in 1170 when the art of bricklaying was presented to the Danish craftsmen.
