Windmill 'De Ster', Utrecht

'Ster' = 'Star'

It's a sawmill... but also a venue for weddings ánd wedding receptions.  The lower part was built in 1739, the upper part in 1999.  Why does this make me think of Frankenstein?  :DD)))

An after-dinner hunting expedition!  Traffic jams over, temperature a few degrees lower, and the sun nearing the end of its run.  I parked a few meters from the mill, separated from it by hedges and trees, some of which can be seen here, and then crossed the canal to the promenade on the other side, from which angle I was able to take several shots.

Earlier in the day, went to work, worked, went back home.  Work consisted of a couple of hours of interviewing applicants for next schoolyear, together with a colleague.  One was rejected, one was put on the waiting list, one was accepted almost the moment he entered the room, but of course we did not tell him that.  In fact, none of them will be notified till after 21 June.  Unfortunately, perhaps, the one who was accepted lives closer to The Hague and would most likely choose the hotel school there if they accept him, too, which is just as likely.  Still, one never knows.

The afternoon was spent on supermarket errands, including a new bicycle chain lock because I lost the key to the old one, as well as on emails TO the Viking, more responses to his latest communiqués.  Too lengthy to elaborate on it here, but I will not be able to rest until he replies.

In any case, thankful for yet another sunny (although very hot) day and for my windmills, but also for my very supportive husband.
