Weak Bridge

This is the Menai Suspension Bridge between Anglesey and the mainland of Wales. The sign was a bit disconcerting as we approached the bridge! But is was completed in 1826 after all! Designed by Thomas Telford.

Today we left the disappointing campsite to travel to Anglesey and meet up with Kevin in Wales for lunch at a great restaurant called Bod Ewr (which means Long Acre in English).
I had a Black Sambuca with sparkling mineral water as an aperitif. This drink is rarely seen but I like it before a meal as it has licorice in it so helps with digestion. It also has witch elder in it. It was a lovely purple color. I followed this up with a creamy goat cheese risotto with fresh greens. Delicious!

We stopped at a train station that had the longest name I’ve ever seen - “Llanfairpwllgwyngllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch” in Welsh. The translation is “The church of Mary in the hollow of the white hazel near the fierce whirlpool and the church of Tysilio by the red cave”.

Now we are settling in to our new campsite which seems to be a huge improvement on the last one. We are surrounded by green hills with cows and fields with horses on them.
