Edderton Pictish Cross slab

The main shows the east face of the 6ft high sandstone Pictish cross slab which stands in Edderton Old Kirkyard.

This face depicts a high relief carving  of a Roman cross resting on an arch. Beneath this is an unarmed horseman. Below him are to armed horsemen which are incised into the sandstone.

On the west face, shown in the extra is a large Celtic cross standing on a stepped base. This base represents the hill of Calvary.

The slab dates from around the 9th century.
