A Deer Little Thing

A and I walked along the North Norfolk Coast Path this morning from Morston to Blakeney.

Surprisingly, we saw some very attractive wildlife (thanks for being so observant A).  I say surprising because those of you who know the path will be aware that is on top of a raised bank, with marsh on one side and fields on the other.  So, whilst it gives one an elevated view over the fields it's difficult to get close shots (at least it is with my lens as it only goes up to 200mm).

Firstly, we stood and watched a majestic barn owl flying around looking for prey.  We had heavy rain during the night so I suspect that it hadn't been able to hunt then, so was making up for it this morning.  Too far away for me to get a decent photo but beautiful to see.

Then A spotted a Muntjac, who leaped off through the long grass when it saw us.  A few moments later we came across this beautiful female roe deer sitting in the grass.  She was wary but sat still long enough for me to take her photo...and to think that I almost didn't take my camera with me today.

PS: A loo moment to share...When we visited the ladies loo in the NT car park there was a male attendant cleaning inside.  He was happily singing and altogether a very cheery man.  Although it felt a bit 'alien' to use the ladies with a man inside, we decided we would use the loos whilst he cleaned the basins.  We encouraged him to continue singing and he gave us a rendition of his favourite song, 'The Streets of London (originally by Ralph McTell), He knew all the words too.  It was rather surreal but strangely uplifting.

A very poignant video (if you can bear to put up with the irritating short ad at the beginning).  Interesting that it was originally intended to be about the 'Streets of Paris'.
