Bannishead Quarry Tarn

Here we are at the end of the extraction tunnel about to enter Bannishead Quarry tarn for a swim. We had waded up the extraction tunnel which is now a river and acts like  an overflow pipe, the quarry being fed by water from a diverted river. The collage in extras shows the entrance to the extraction tunnel, the waterfall that feeds the quarry and a landscape view of our swimming destination. If you look very carefully in  the top left  you will see some lads about to jump. Yes there were lads jumping off the cliff into the quarry. We talked to them about health and safety, they thought we were fussing old women!. They were local had done this many times before.
