Venice - day 4

Backblipped 23/6.  Islands day.  We thought it might be quieter to go out to the islands today rather than at the weekend, but I don't think there is ever a quiet day for those places. We bought a vaporetto card for a few days, and took one stop across the Grand Canal.  We then walked to Fondamente Nove.  There was a long queue for the boat so we called into the Jesuit Church - Chiesa Di Santa Maria Assunta Detta I Gesuiti for a look around instead of standing out in the hot sunshine. An amazing church - some photos in extras. The balcony with curtains was interesting as the "curtains" were ceramic. After that we were first in line for the next boat so managed to get seats -  I've always had to stand all the way before. Because of that we decided to visit Burano first - my favourite anyway. More photos in extras.  I gave in and bought myself an embroidered scarf.  There were some lovely clothes on sale, but the prices......!  Fin saw a really nice blue shirt - nothing unusual about it at all, but it was 180 euros.  Purchase NOT made!  We had a good look round and then decided to go to Murano for refreshments.  I've been to Torcello before, and it was the hottest part of the day so we missed that one out as it is a long walk from the boat to the church.  Standing room only on the boat this time.  In Murano we were disappointed to see that our "go to" restaurant had been taken over - we had lunch there but it wasn't the same standard and service was not good at all. We then went shopping as Fin wanted some glass items as presents.  I bought some earrings but not expensive ones. Back to Venice and a welcome shower.  Went out for dinner near to the hotel and we had lovely food and wine (extras) - another one to return to.  We then had a nightcap at a bar just along from our hotel annexe - we first discovered this place in 2013 and Corinthian and I spent quite a bit of time in there during our visit in 2017 haha! It has now been bought by the restaurant opposite, and does great cocktails!
