On Some Days

I have reduced the image to make them load faster so I hope they look okay.  We refueled here in Tok and I saw these bikers heading out (extra )  for Andrew and Rusty Crap.  I would never have thought road works would be a highlight of travel but today they were.  The Alaska Highway is constantly needing repair due to the thawing and freezing.  They do big sections at a time and we had a 20 minute wait and this young woman (2nd extra came to talk to us.  She works 6 to 6, seven days a week and lives in a trailer camp further down the road.
The main blip is Midway Lake which had a long pull out area.  Further along we stopped at the Tetlin Wildlife refuge and went for a walk and read the info panels which explained all the lakes we were seeing.
'Alaska's Boreal Forest also known at Taiga, land of little sticks in Russian.  It covers much of the northern latitudes of the world.  Black spruce grow so slowly that a tree 2 inches in diameter may be 100 years old.'
We continued our driving through the endless spruce trees to the Canadian Boarder and into the Yukon Territory.  We camped for the night at Snag Junction Government Camp Ground for $20 with firewood provided.  It was warm but their were insects and we ate outside by the fire but I retreated back inside after dinner.
