Gull chicks

Every year at this time the enclosed courtyard behind our St Andrews surgery is home to 2 or 3 Herring Gull chicks that flutter down from an adjacent high flat roof where they hatch. They will be there till they are able to fly away.

They pad around constantly squawking for food till a parent bird arrives and regurgitates some disgusting meal for the hungry youngsters.

I had the window open slightly for fresh  air today so the noise was particularly loud - they are however quite amusing to watch !

Unfortunately the adult birds are quite a nuisance in town swooping on people and grabbing food from them ( I have watched it happening) , they pull stuff out of rubbish bins and parked cars are often adorned by amazing amounts of bird poo !
