Untangling the Bindweed

Tony kindly took on the task of untangling the bindweed from my clematis as I was struggling to separate out the two plants.  It was a bigger job than we initially thought and the bindweed had wrapped itself around the agapanthus too.

It's been a day of jobs at home.  I put another coat of oil on the patio garden seat and finished washing the plant pots.  Inspired by the wildlife Kagsy is catching on her wildlifecam, I put out mine last night and captured the pesky squirrel and several magpies and jackdaws, pah!

Tony has been busy making several jars of mixed berry jam.  The berries are not in full flood yet so there are too few to make single berry jam, but too many to keep for cereals, desserts etc.

I was listening to Jonnie Walker interviewing an ageing rocker about his latest job with Blondie at Glastonbury, and it made me chuckle that he said the call came through when he was in the middle of making a risotto.  Later on he recounted a story of bumping in to Yusuf/Cat Stevens in the garden centre.  I guess even the wildmen of rock have to settle to domesticity some time!

Back in 2000, our girls then aged 15 and 17 went to Glastonbury.  The condition was that they could get themselves there, but had to stay with us in a B&B so we blithely set off after work on the Friday evening, thinking we would arrive at a gate to collect them at 11pm, no problem.  Having no idea of what was ahead, we turned off the motorway to hit the traffic jam.  What followed was several hours of Tony crawling to the site in the car whilst I ran ahead to the B&B to apologise (no mobile phones!); then to the site to try locate the girls in the pitch black in the middle of nowhere whilst Tony was circumnavigating the huge site on the one way system.  A helpful policeman finally took the wreck that was me to the gate and there they were wrapped up by a brazier with huge grins from ear to ear, 'Mum it's awesome!'  We finally drew the curtains in the B&B just as the sun was rising.....
